How Long Does a Dental Crown Last?

Watch this video by Dr. Oscar Esparza where he explains how artificial teeth can last just as long as your natural teeth with proper home care and cleanings.

Dental crowns are designed to last 10-15 years. It all depends how you treat it. If you chew on ice or you like to chew hard food all the time, probably you’re going to break that crown. If you take medication for high blood pressure or another heart condition, that’s going to create a dry mouth and that’s going to allow the bacteria to break the integrity of the ceiling of the crown and you’re going to develop decay underneath it, shortening the life of that crown. But they are designed to last 10-15 years, even 30 years. It all depends on how you care for the crown. Please give us a call. We can let you know what is your condition and the consultation is free.
