¿Cómo se limpia alrededor de un miniimplante dental?

Tratamiento con miniimplantes dentales | Consultas gratuitas en Ontario, CA

You’ve replaced a missing tooth or stabilized your dentures with miniimplantes, and now you’re enjoying your new smile. But what comes next? How do you keep your new teeth clean, and does a mini dental implant require the same care as a natural tooth? Implantes dentales replace missing tooth roots and support crowns, bridges, or dentures. Although these artificial replacements can’t develop cavities, plaque can still accumulate around the implants and along your gums. Daily cleaning is just as important as before treatment, but how you care for your new teeth depends on whether your restoration is fixed in place or removable.

At Esparza Dentistry, we stay committed to your smile after treatment. We want you to know exactly how to care for your new teeth, protect your oral health, and enjoy the benefits of your restoration for years to come.

How To Clean Around a Mini Dental Implant Crown

You can clean an implant-supported crown much like a natural tooth. Pay special attention to the gumline and the spaces between your crown and neighboring teeth.

For everyday care:

  • Brush twice daily: Use a standard toothbrush to gently clean your crown, surrounding teeth, and gumline.
  • Clean between your teeth: Floss daily to remove plaque and food particles your toothbrush can’t reach.
  • Use additional tools if needed: An interdental brush or water flosser may make certain spaces easier to clean. Choose an interdental brush that fits comfortably without forcing it between your teeth.

You don’t need every cleaning tool available. Our hygienists can help you choose what works best for your restoration and show you how to use it. These recommendations apply once the surrounding gum tissue has healed and your permanent crown is in place. If you’ve recently undergone dental implant treatment, follow the specific cleaning instructions we provided while your gums heal.

Cleaning an Implant-Supported Bridge

Cleaning an implant-supported bridge is similar to caring for a single implant crown. Brush twice daily with a standard toothbrush and clean around the supporting implants. The main difference is that you also need to clean underneath the bridge, where food particles and plaque can collect.

The connected replacement teeth prevent you from passing floss between them from above. Use a floss threader or superfloss to guide floss underneath the bridge and gently clean along its underside. An appropriately sized interdental brush can also help you reach these spaces.

How To Clean Mini Dental Implants With Snap-In Dentures

Snap-in dentures require you to clean two separate areas: the dentadura postiza removible and the mini dental implants in your jawbone.

For daily cleaning:

  1. Remove and rinse your dentures: Use the removal technique we demonstrated during your appointment, then rinse away loose food particles with lukewarm water.
  2. Brush around each implant attachment: With your denture removed, use a toothbrush to gently clean all sides of the exposed attachments, especially where they meet your gums. Brush your gums and tongue, too.
  3. Clean your dentures separately: Use a soft denture brush and a nonabrasive denture cleanser. Pay particular attention to the underside and the areas that snap onto your implants.
  4. Soak your dentures as directed: Choose a cleaning solution compatible with your denture materials and attachment components. Follow the recommended soaking time.

At Esparza Dentistry, we’re happy to demonstrate the proper cleaning techniques and help you choose products that are safe for your dentures and implant attachments.
