What is a Dental Implant?

Watch this video by Dr. Oscar Esparza where he explains dental implants and how they are used to replace individual or multiple missing teeth.

A dental implant is a piece of titanium designed to replace the root of a natural tooth. This piece of titanium is anchored into the jawbone, and that is going to hold the crown to properly restore your smile and reestablish the function of your mouth. Dental implants are designed to stay in the bone for a long time once they osseointegrate. This integration normally takes from four to six months.

Once the implant is fully integrated, it’s going to work same as a natural tooth, with cleanings, gum treatments, and keeping the gums in healthy condition. Those implants are designed to last the rest of the patient’s life. If you have any questions about implants, you can call us.
